Things I Like Thursday 17/12/2009

Ok, ok. The eagle-eyed of you will notice that there was no TilT last week. Don't get me wrong- there were plenty of things I liked last week - I just didn't have time to like them!!!



So I present, a slightly overdue but bursting with goodness TILT!

- Yes, I know I've posted about it before but it was A M A ZING! Part of me had always wished I was a little girl in 1939 when the Wizard of Oz was first released - how amazing would it have been witnessing the change from black and white to Technicolour for the first time? Anyhoo I had the BEST time watching it in the cinema! There was the sweetest little girl across the aisle from us who kept giggling at the Lion -normally this would annoy me but she had the cutest chuckle! What was also fun was that I took a WOOz virgin with me (don't get me started - how can you get to 22 without seeing it?!?!?) - and she loved it too!!!

-My Christmas night out! We had a fairly low key night, but the company was fantastic. I also found this throne which I think I should drag into work to sit at my desk on, oui?

-French Bulldogs. Do I need an explanation? They're so ugly that they're cute and they have so much attitude on their mug.

This ad was the paper this week and I had to remind the Kiwi that a) I don't have £850 to spend on a dog and b) Coco would hate us forever

-Crazy nails! I used to be really into nail art (sheep in a field? Union Jack? My name??), but haven't had the time or patience to do anything wacky recently. These started off as candy cane stripes, but I was tired and had a shaky hand, so they were changed to polka dots. Not sure if they're cute or too much like measles.

-How awesome is my mum for making me this? She's a dab hand on the computer, but leave her alone with it for a while and it can be dangerous. Thankfully this time she focussed her efforts into making me a 'guilty pleasures' list featuring some of my favourite rugby players. Bless. It now takes pride of place on my desk at work.

-I stupidly, and lazily, left my fleecy hoody in the living room last week. I only got it back yesterday. You see, Mika hijacked it. For just about 24 hours a day, he has been attached to it. To be fair, if I was a pyuss, I'd like a fleece covered cushion too. I love the fact he's hogging all the remotes in this pic too!

-Hic, drool, blabja;lhfuioa;hfj;. I'm sorry, let me regain my composure. Seriously, how perrrrrffffeeeccccttttt are these shoes??? Red? Sparkly? Bow? heel? Non slutty despite all of the above? I WANT, no, MUST OWN these shoes. Size 6 1/2, 7 thank very much.

-Coco is very much like me in the mornings - she will do ANYTHING to avoid having to actually get up. Usually when I get up she follows me around, rubs herself against my hairbrush, chews my blusher brush and gives herself a moustache with my eyebrow pencil. But one morning this week there was no sign of her. I looked around and saw this. Touche Coco. I feel like burying my head back under the duvet most mornings too.

- This is EXACTLY my sense of humour. Snort.

-Three day weeks - wooooooooooohooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

-Christmas anticipation. My mum has bought us all novelty gifts and so far all I know is that one of my grandparents is going to be the lucky recipient of a set of nipple tassles. Hmmm.

-Sending away the Kiwi's visa. Ok so that's one bit of worrying by. Now all I need to do is worry until we hear back! ARGH!

-Hearing that my granny doesn't have to have a HUUUUUUGE operation. SMILE!

-Eating Christmassy food before Christmas - see pate, olive mixes, antipasti meats, crackers and cheese etc

-Drinking non-alcoholic wine the night after a night on the booze - you feel hardcore, but wake up fresh as a daisy - bonus!

-SHORTER hair. Oh dear. From the haircut-phobic person I was, I've become a daredevil in the hairdressers seat. i.e I got another couple of inches off. Big news for me, but probably a normal visit for everyone else.

Things I Like Thursday 26th November 2009

Woops! A little bit late this week! It's been a busy one!

-Let's start with a big one shall we - SCOTLAND BEAT AUSTRALIA!!!! Yay! It was the best rugby game I have ever been too - the atmosphere was electric! My heart was in my throat for the last ten minutes of the game, and it certainly felt good walking out of Murrayfield on a high! Oh yeah, and we were on TV! I've had so many people text/message me asking 'were you wearing earmuffs at the rugby?', yeah that was me! (It was cold!!!)

-'Picky' teatimes - You know when you don't want a full on sit down meal? I love grazing on lots of things and tonight was one of those nights. Crusty bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar? Check! Capers? Check! Olives? Check! Seafood sticks? CHECK!!!

-Ordering new cupcake goodies - I cannot wait to get my hands on Gingerbread Man sprinkles, Candy Cane sprinkles and new delivery boxes!!




















-Planning on wearing Ruby slippers when I get married (I watched my special edition of the Wizard of Oz again last night - loooooooooove)















-These Chanel inspired bow shoes on Topshop.com (Mind you, my Peep Under My Quilts take a lot of beating)




















-Anna Wintour - I finally saw The September Issue this week and she's not nearly as scary as I expected her to be. That lady knows her stuff.

-The phrase 'What's good for you won't pass you by' - here's hoping!

-My mum's friend telling me that love feels like someone 'putting hairy worms down your back' - gross but cute!

-Writing lists. I'm a Pisces but I certainly have some Virgo qualities, listing being one. Ooooh I want a laminater

-Spending time with my mum and dad - ah...that's where I get it from.

-The fact that the Kiwi has started calling himself HighTower.

-Hearing that a friend tried to blow out a candle while brushing his teeth. Priceless.

- When we went shopping this week I started putting away our bags. When I picked up the last, it was heavy so I assumed I'd left the milk in it. But no. I looked inside, and I certainly don't remember buying this -

There is something weird going on with my blog so if things don't look quite right, that explains why!

Things I Love Thursday 19th November 2009

I've been happy about a lot of things this week - mainly because I'm on HOLIDAY! Woohoo!!!

-Ogling this red KitchenAid in John Lewis - anyone got £389 spare?

-Fresh crusty loaf. If you get close enough to the screen I'm sure you could smell how good this is. We used it to mop up creamy garlic sauce we had with mussels yuuuuummmmmm.

-Long lie ins

-Cosy winter jumpers

-Landmark! I haven't been since I was little, so the Kiwi and I were stoked to stop in by on our way back from Inverness. Unfortunately a lot of the attractions were closed as we're into winter, so we settled for the Treetop Walk and went squirrel hunting.

Eventually we came across three and they were AWESOME. I want a squirrel tail - it would be like having a massive fleecy blanket with you all the time.

-THIS poster at the cinema! Exciting! The Wizard of Oz is one of my all time favourite films, and I can tell already that I'll be crapping myself when the Wicked Witch flies past Dorothy's window cackling during the tornado! (Interesting fact - Jack Haley wasn't meant to play the Tin Man -Buddy Ebsen, who was originally set to play the Tin Man, had a near-fatal reaction from inhaling the aluminum dust in the silver powder they used on his face. They chose a silver paste/paint after that, but the Ebsen was too ill to go back to work, and so Jack Haley was brought in.)

-Making Maltesers Traybake - thank you Debbie and Andy for introducing me to this ridiculously easy and tasty recipe. My love handles thank you even more for it.

- Finally - the cats are LOVING having us home at the mo, and they're completely acting up. So much so that they're knackered and at the moment Mika is lying across my legs upsides down dreaming of catching meeses, with Coco lying under him snoring her head off (seriously this cat has nasal issues).

So here are my pyusses in some of their finest moments -

Although these two were neutered at a young age and have been the only cats in the house their entire lives, they still have maternal and paternal instincts. Hence the Kitten game. Our two would be very protective of any little un's they had. Check out Mika's eye smooch at the end.

Like children, our cats have lots of toys. And also like their human counterparts, it is the simplest toys that keep them happy. Coco's world revolves around her string. This length of elastic came attached to a pair of shoes I bought and she has been inseparable from it for the last year. She fetches it and if she drops it at your feet you MUST play with it. If not, she will paw at you and moan at you until you do. Even in bed, at 7am. Check out that left hook at the end.

I'm off to Edinburgh tomorrow for our yearly rugby trip! Yay! We always go for a whole weekend and make an event out of it! Bring on the Ginger Grouses! If you're watching on TV and see two women storming the pitch and chasing the players, that'll be me and my mum!!!

Things I Like Thursday - 29/10/09

* Interviewing Status Quo - they are hilarious, and every time I interview them they make me laugh a bit harder.

* Having my appraisal at work and discovering I'm going to be doing some design work - yay! Time to put that degree to use!

* Having one of my best friends visit from Lewis, a tiny Scottish island she has moved to with her fiance. Exciting conversations 1) the fact that this former dog owner is now a cat person who could barely take her attention away from Coco, and has now got her own bundle of whiskers and 2) wedding plans! Nicola is getting married in 2011 and I'm one of three bridesmaids. I'm a bit of a wedding fanatic so this means lots of fun research for me (and lots of earbashings for the poor Kiwi) As you can see, she's going to make an interesting bride!

* My new cake stand - it's so girly it should be pooping unicorns. (Excuse my messy desk at work in the background)

* Getting everything ready to renew the Kiwi's visa...(please cross your fingers and toes and whatever else you can for us!)

* My friend Andy refusing to spank Coco as he didn't want to "w*nk off the cat" - haha! Coco was not amused and proceeded to wiggle her rear end under his hand and gaze lovingly at him until he gave in.

* How gorgeous Ivanka Trump looked on her wedding day

* Having fajitas with friends (favourite past time)

* Talking about exciting trips to luxury hotels with my mum, who also managed to come up with plans to see We Will Rock You, have a few drinks, and also somehow convince the Scottish Rugby squad to let us party with them. Droooooool.



*Absolutely losing it in McDonalds with mum - why can't we ever remember what made us start laughing?!?!

* Disney's UP in 3D - We queued (at 10.30am on a Sunday. To see a Disney film. In the freezing cold. Nuts? Me?) and it was well worth it. I wasn't that hyped about it as I had no idea about the story, but it's the sweetest adventure and makes you appreciate what you have in life. I did NOT appreciate the Kiwi laughing at me crying during the film (I AM A SOP)

* This outfit from Topshop -

* New found evidence which proves that men prefer normal sized woman to size zero models. I could have told them that! (I have no problem with girls who are naturally slender, it's the ones who starve themselves because they think it will make them more attractive that make me sad. Embrace your curves!)

* My dad's remedy to his full-on stonking cold - A hot curry, some rum and a whole lot of Belgian beer. Guaranteed to clear your sinuses (and most likely your bowels too)

* Planning trips to Inverness with the Kiwi and my adventurous buddy Naomi!
